Biofuel production
As part of its activities in the forest sector, UAB Baltic Forest Group generates significant quantities of raw material for biofuel production. When logging, we try to collect all the waste and low-value timber we can and use it as raw material for biofuel.
UAB Baltic Forest Group is also involved in the management of derelict land overgrown with low-value trees and bushes. We clear fields, meadows, ditches, roadsides, and woodlands overgrown with low-value trees and bushes. We prepare the resulting low-value wood and logging waste as raw material for biofuel. We carry out these activities all over Lithuania. The abandoned land management service is usually at no cost to the customer, i.e., we cut down and remove shrubs and trees free of charge, and in some cases we even pay a premium for larger quantities of low-value timber or logging waste.
If the customer wishes, we can leave individual, more beautiful trees or groups of trees. We provide our recommendations for stump removal. In many cases, milling stumps and small branches left on the ground is the most efficient and time-consuming method. Stumps and other wood waste are shredded into chips, which are spread on the soil surface or lightly mixed with the soil.
Stump milling has the dual benefit of not only removing unwanted stumps, roots, or other wood waste, but also smoothing out the micro-terrain of the site (larger mounds, anthills, molehills, etc.), which are particularly abundant on abandoned sites.

Still, it’s critical to support rural communities to take care of their forests rather than cut them down. The mills are always hiring–not because they’re growing, but because they can’t keep people
